Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party returning to Disney World in pandemic first

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is coming back to Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom for the first time since the pandemic. It's one of the rare occasions when guests of all ages are allowed to wear costumes at the park.

The beloved fall event, which dates back to 1995, was skipped in 2020. A different Halloween-themed event, Disney After Hours Boo Bash, was held at the Florida resort last year.

Disney Parks announced the return of Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Oogie Boogie Bash at California's Disneyland's on Thursday, which marks #HalfwaytoHalloween.

Here's what the parks have brewing for the after-hours events, which require special tickets, separate from regular theme park admission.

The event will be held on 37 different nights between Aug. 12 and Oct. 31. Ticket prices will range from $109 to $199, depending on the date. The lowest price is notably less than last year's Disney After Hours Boo Bash, which started at $129. Additionally, annual passholders and Disney Vacation Club members will be able to get specially priced tickets for select dates. Tickets go on sale May 18.

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party officially runs from 7 p.m. to midnight, but traditionally guests can enter Magic Kingdom a few hours early. They are usually given a wristband or some way of identifying them as party attendees, since regular park guests must exit before the event starts.

The Sanderson Sisters, who will return to the screen this fall in the long-awaited sequel to "Hocus Pocus," will take part in event-exclusive entertainment, which also includes Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade and Disney’s Not-So-Spooky (Nighttime) Spectacular. Party attendees can also expect to see and snap photos with iconic Disney villains and classic Disney characters in Halloween costumes. This year also will offer step-in photo opportunities exclusive to the event.

As part of Disney World's year-long 50th anniversary celebration, Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party guests will receive a Halloween-themed commemorative 50th anniversary print as well as a reusable trick-or-treat bag, which they can use to collect treats around the park.

Oogie Boogie Bash - A Disney Halloween Party at Disneyland

Oogie Boogie Bash, which made its pandemic return last year, will be back at Disneyland this fall. Neither dates nor details have been released, but Disneyland did reveal Mickey and Minnie will have new outfits this Halloween season.

Guests who can't wait to celebrate can get an early taste of Halloween with two limited-time treats available at the park through this weekend: a Spooky Churro and Cheddar Pickle (Corn) Dog. Halloween-themed merchandise will be available at Disneyland, Disney World and online starting in August.
